W. G. Sebald

W. G. Sebald  (1944–2001) was a German academic and author of novels, poetry, and nonfiction. His novels The Emigrants and The Rings of Saturn were awarded the Berlin Literature Prize, Literatur Nord Prize, Johannes Bobrowski medal, and Los Angeles Times Book Award. He was Professor of German at the University of East Anglia and the first director of the British Centre for Translation.
