Terese Svoboda

A recent recipient of a Guggenheim in fiction, Terese Svoboda has also won the Iowa Prize for poetry, the O. Henry Award for the short story, the New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship, a Pushcart Prize for the essay, and many other awards. She is the author of six novels, seven books of poetry, a memoir, and a book of translation from Nuer, a South Sudanese language. Her opera WET premiered at L.A.'s Disney Hall in 2005. When The Next Big War Blows Down the Valley: Selected and New Poems was published in 2015, Anything That Burns You: A Portrait of Lola Ridge, Radical Poet and Professor Harriman's Steam Air-Ship in 2016.
