Osmanjan Muhemmed Pas’an

Osmanjan Muhemmed Pas’an was born in 1981 in Muji Village, Guma County. After completing high school in Muji he attended college in Khotan, and since 2003 has lived in Ürümchi, where he is proprietor of the Quyash Bookstore. His poetry has been published widely in Uyghur literary journals and online, and his young adult novel The Monster is currently being serialized. A volume of his poems, in Memtimin Abliz's Chinese translation, was published in 2014, and his poem “Against Tradition,” in Joshua Freeman’s English translation, appeared last year in Words Without Borders.
