Major Jackson

Major Jackson is the author of five books of poetry: The Absurd Man, Roll Deep, Holding Company, Hoops, and Leaving Saturn, winner of the Cave Canem Poetry Prize. His edited volumes include Best American Poetry 2019, Renga for Obama, and Countee Cullen: Collected Poems. A recipient of fellowships from the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Guggenheim Foundation, NEA, and the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, he has been awarded a New England Book Award, a Whiting Writers’ Award, a Pew Fellowship in the Arts, and a Witter Bynner Fellowship. He lives in Nashville, Tennessee, where he is the Gertrude Conaway Vanderbilt Professor of English at Vanderbilt University.
