Jonathan Penner

Jonathan Penner is the author of the novels Going Blind (Simon & Schuster, 1977) and Natural Order (Poseidon Press, 1990), the story collections Private Parties (University of Pittsburgh, 1983) and This Is My Voice (Carnegie Mellon University Press, 2003), and The Intelligent Traveler's Guide to Chiribosco, a novella. He has received writing fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Fulbright Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Arizona Commission on the Arts. His awards include the Drue Heinz Literature Prize, the LSU/Southern Review Short Fiction Prize, the Galileo Press Short Novel Prize, and the Spokane Prize for Short Fiction. He received his MFA and Ph.D from the University of Iowa and has taught fiction writing at the University of Arizona, Vanderbilt, Southern Illinois University, and the University of Hawaii.
