Cosmic Attitude

by Iain Britton

not easy

staring into the deep end of a stormwater drain

staring at fallen planets

something informative crosses over

i respect the braids of silence
that invisibly wrap this solitary flesh
in orbital grease

my afternoon is spent in an orchard
             amongst oranges
             a cat   killing finches
             a woman
             fighting with her washing

& a wind putting the boot in

*

night’s tug isn’t far off

a lover’s  spoon concerto
attracts a crowd of lampposts

i’m remembering two dreams i had   a sequential blast

of how not to analyse too much
of how rapidly the sun & moon can shoot down your hopes

with silver-plated neurons

can turn your body into a vascular labyrinth

of split visions
